Blood on the Blood Moon

The sounds of the “windy city” always feel good in my ears. The autumn wind blows through my hair as I approach the club. I glance down the street and into the sky, the moon is rising, full and with a very distinct red color.  A wonderful night for a blood moon.  The lights on the sign are bright and colorful, as they spell the name ‘Excalibur’, which is a great place to go on a Friday night.  Who would have thought that the scum of the underworld would come here to spend a night out?  Well it’ll be the last mistake they’ll ever make.   As I approach the door, one of the bouncers moves to see if I’m armed.  I stare him down, letting my lycan flow through my eyes. He backs away, fear in his eyes.  It has always amazed me at how simple it is for a wolfen to move around with ease.  I entered the bar. Lights and music fill my eyes and ears almost immediately.  Only a few steps in and already I’m surrounded by people involved in a ritual danc...

THE MORNING

I wake up with a gasp.    Pain throbs all over my body. Dried blood in my nose makes it hard to breathe.  Just breathing is hard. I can feel the missing places in my jaw where teeth should be.  The nightmare didn’t help. The sheets on the bed are soaked with sweat and I’m freezing from the cold. I reach for a blanket but there’s nothing. There’s blood on the pillow from my nose and mouth. I cough and more blood covers what‘s left of the white. My bruised ribs ache, my back is sore as hell.  My legs are cramped and welted like my arms.    I try to pull myself to the edge of the bed. It hurts so much to move. Every part of my body is screaming and I want so much for it to stop, but I need to move. I see the blanket on the floor. I shouldn’t stay in bed with all this blood. I need to get to the bathroom and clean up. The sun's light doesn’t fill the room but reflections from somewhere illuminate the rest.   I know it’s goin...

Thomas and Friends: Thomas and the Comet Trains (children's story)

On the Island of Sodor, the trains work hard everyday. It is a time of preparation.  The Sodor Anniversary is approaching.      Thomas is working on his branch line with  Annie and Clarabel. Thomas had just left the station when he noticed a strange looking engine ahead of him. It moved around a bend, but when Thomas followed, it was gone.  That night at Tidmouth Sheds, Thomas tells the other engines about seeing the strange engine.    “I saw the train ahead of me, when I was pulling the express today,” said Gordon.  “I saw it this morning!” peeped Percy “It moved faster than Gordon or Spencer!”  Edward, James, Emily, Toby and Henry saw it too. This confused Thomas as well as the other engines. How could all the engines see the same engine while pulling trains on different parts of the island? “We should all look for this engine tomorrow.” Said Emily.    The engines all agreed. The next morning, Thoma...
